
How to get that perfect crunch (without drying out the middle)
Ever wonder why some toast is perfectly golden and juicy inside, while others end up like a piece of cardboard? It all comes down to how the heat actually hits the food. Most heaters just warm up the air and hope for the best. But we do things differently. We use quartz infrared tubes. Instead of waiting for the air to get hot, these tubes send radiation straight into the food. Think of it like sunlight on a cold day. You feel the warmth instantly. These short-wave infrared rays dive deep into the food, shaking up the water molecules inside. This means the center gets hot while the outside sears. You get that satisfying crust, but the inside stays tender. Why quartz? We use high-purity fused quartz for the outer shell because it’s tough. Really tough. If you used regular glass and jumped from room temperature to 600°C in a few seconds, it would probably shatter. Quartz doesn’t care. It handles that kind of thermal shock without breaking a sweat. Inside, we’ve tuned the tungsten filaments to hit exactly the right heat density. Now, you might think “more power is always better,” but it’s a balancing act. Higher wattage makes things brown faster. But if the tube is too close to the food, you’ll burn the outside before the middle even wakes up. You have to get the spacing just right. A few tips on the practical side These tubes are designed to be easy. They’re basically drop-in replacements with standard connectors. Just make sure the electrical fit is tight. If the connection is loose, you’ll get arcing, and the terminals will fry themselves way too soon. And here is a pro tip:don’t touch the quartz with your bare hands. It sounds weird, but the oils from your skin create “hot spots” on the glass. Those spots cause stress in the material, and eventually, the tube will just burn out. It’s a pain, but always give them a quick wipe with some alcohol before you wire them up. Your equipment will thank you.
