
Getting the Heat Right for Your Husky HyPET Preforms
If you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. You need a perfect thermal profile, but if the heat doesn’t actually soak into the preform wall, you’re stuck with uneven thickness and that annoying stress whitening. It’s a headache. That’s why we built our replacement IR radiator bulbs specifically for the Husky HyPET footprint. We wanted to close that penetration gap once and for all. The trick is in the density. To get the heat deep into the PET, we focused on short-wave infrared emission. We spec’d these tubes for higher wattage and voltage to create a dense photon flux. In plain English? We’re forcing more energy into the preform instead of letting it just leak out into the oven air. It means you hit that glass transition temperature way faster. It’s all about the materials. We use heavy-wall quartz glass because cheap tubes bow under extreme heat. We also tuned the halogen cycle to keep the filament dead-center. This stops those “hot spots” that usually kill off budget replacement bulbs. And since not every preform is the same color, we use specific coatings to shift the emission spectrum. We want the energy to be absorbed by the polymer chain, not just bounce off the surface. Getting them installed These are direct drop-in replacements. You just pop them into your existing sockets. No rewiring, no messing with your racks, no fuss. But here is the catch: when you push more heat density, your cooling blowers have to work harder. If your ventilation is clogged or just isn’t up to the task, all that extra IR output can overheat your lamp holders. Keep your airflow clean.
